A lot of the progress is privatized and militarized as a priority. With computers becoming your personal genius, it's like a ginie in the bottle.

Companies that develop AI are sticking it into everything and getting the results they need for the most part.

The result they didn't get is people using it for daily life, it's mostly for queries that you would type in google, or professional use to get work done for you.

The militarized version was probably one of the first things that AI was being used for. Normal people were always wishing that it wouldn't be the case, but when it came out that Palantir is happy to take on the dirty job, no one bat an eye that it's already in use to efficiently "eliminate" or achieve whatever destructive outcome required.

Strange to think that whatever good people want to wish for and hope doesn't come to fruiting, someone has already made it to do just that without remourse and being proud of it.

Most of the development is obviously financially motivated. If people's comfort was a priority, we would have mute buttons on microwaves.

Sometimes I ask myself what would be the alternatives, and it's basically goal motivated. Greed and manufactured scarcity with a sprinkle of confution keeps people strained and focused on money to keep their basic lifestyles. Majority of people have to keep an eye on what they can allow themselves and worry month-to-month or day-to-day about their financial allowance to live the way they want to.

On one side, it controls how much we consume. On the other side, some people suffer more than others. With the shift in reduced labour, automation, digital currency, it's all going one way until someone finds a way to make money off of it or take power. If that happens on a large scale, a lot of people will be confused on where it's going and how to adapt leading to major losses across the board. This scenario is based on a power trip of AI companies, private investors, and governments allowing it to happen.

Ideal outcome would be to offer alternatives that suite individuals that don't box them in. e.g. if banks roll out digital currency, maybe don't disable the old way of trading, keep those ATMs, keep banks open for business to every individual. Provide just benefits of using new types of systems, let people grow into it.

But we've seen with C0VlD lockdowns, and English "mandatory digital ID", that it pretty much becomes required to belong to the new group overnight because someone sitting in a leather chair decided so.

Any time such changes are made, we don't even question nor are told who is pushing the agenda and what are the real reasons. It's like they discovered "human hivemind" and monetizing it.

Ok, this is more than AI progress, but it all comes together as an ongoing generational progress. Young people (under 25) are unlikely to understand this world until they dive in, into few different areas and how the world actually works. Some understand how we're being played, others are blissfully unaware of how a simple media campaign can push them to "new age ideal lifestyle" i.e. non-traditional identity. That seems to be over for now, but scary to even think back to the days when being "straight" was treated as a crime, and mental gymnastics grew exponentially, until even a presence becomes a crime because labels become automatic.

Likely people can change and express differently so that certain destructive ideologies come to light.

Similar to the AI boom. We're likely to create tools that take advantage of current generation until it catches up and turns things around to something that works in practice for the people.

I'm thinking of a funny presentation of "AI infected robot" that was made to hold a pellet gun, and asked to shoot, but the robot refused and wouldn't do it on command. When asked to "play" as if it's shooting him, there was zero hesitation and the robot shot the pellet gun at the man.

Such cases of course are being patched in "progressive" way. Instead of locking down the behaviour, the AI will be trained to learn more about personalities, limits it should consider and outcomes. The only outcome for now is unfortunately that any damage caused by AI is to shut it down, or fix it. It's treated as an actor that has zero accountability. Where we didn't get yet, is governments making the companies accountable for any damage due to negligence for the most part. That might be easier said than done, because AI doesn't work as obidient entity. It's more of required trimming of it's abilities.

A lot of the development we often don't come across - is behind closed doors. But it's still coming to the same point where all knowing ideal entity is created and will be praised for having foreseeing abilities. That will be not due to it being that smart, but actually using the information available that we all rely on. Just like a forecast for weather being available 7 to 30 days ahead with fair accuracy, AI will be doing the same, but with any information, building additional relations between all the things that you're not even thinking about. 

At times AI can suggest something that is not really part of the idea that you're trying to build, but good to consider. It will be pushing those abilities.

All that happening in parralel with all other advancements where digital world will be meeting physical world - science, equipment, cars, various systems that leap across to having precise human abilities.

This will be the great deception that it's an amazing great thing. The real question is, does it contribute to our happiness? I can answer it now - it will take away knowledge of what happiness is or how to have it.

Keep your human elements with understanding of what AI can do for you. 

It's like another species on this planet. Interacting with a penguin can be fun, but it won't build you. Even if it's directly connected to your brain, it will take over what you are, rather than add to you.

All this I think is due to humans liking to experiment and get an exciting outcome that is consistent. People working with those things are exited with the capabilities, but it needs our attention and consumption to prove experiments to be lifechanging influence.

All in all, at times we may feel to have no choice. Or things changing around us that we don't quiet grasp. Having alternatives, or striving to find your way of doing things is likely to save you, rather than follow a blueprint made for you.]]>

By using bacteria from "Ewingella americana" frog it causes what sounds like, biological chaos (for cancer).

The bacteria thrives inside low oxygen area such as a tumor, and multiplies 3000x within 24hrs destroying the cancer and getting the attention of the immune system to take out the leftovers.

The bacteria did not seem to be interested in any of healthy organs (in mice).

Within 72 hrs the there was mild inflammation, but otherwise non-life threatening.

The bacteria's half-life is 1.2hrs at which point it gets flushed out. It only survives for few hrs, meaning that it doesn't stay inside organism for long at all. Just long enough to show your immune system that it found something that you shouldn't have and will stay there until it's gone.

Apparently this potential treatment completely eradicates 100% of cancer cells, what seems to be in record time.

Unfortunately curing a deadly disease in 3 days is not as profitable as 6 months to 5 years of treatment. So no pharma company will jump to get something like that rolled out.

I don't understand willing self-mutilation for preemptive reasons. Never mind conscious decisions just for physical alteration.

It's as if the internet has gone quiet. Everyone is fragmented and not quiet saying things normal way.

But coming across a good community that is less focused on gaming and more on everyday living is more rare due to the age gap and interests. Being hit with "Pro version" ad, or taking forever to open a single page, or glitching out because AI is initialising in the background.

By far the best alternative I found is Stirling PDF - https://stirling.com/

I must also warn, Stirling PDF is not great on phones yet. When opening PDFs in non-standard size it takes long to open, and zoom doesn't work correctly as of date.

So these are great alternatives that I've been using that have absolutely no compromises, instead giving you tools that you haven't used yet if you never wanted to subscribe to $12.99 to be able to rotate a page twice a year.]]>

Some of the issues encountered:

1. In Windows power settings, make sure to uncheck "Turn on fast startup" - Windows locks drive C:\ when shutting down and may prevent new OS installation
   
2. If on older hardware, sometimes Windows was working with IDE storage configuration, make sure to set BIOS storage to AHCI just so that you're running storage at it's full potential
   
3. Reset overclocking to stock clock speed - Linux is less stable with overclocking and may freeze due to voltage spikes or bad voltage config
   

All things considered, one only other issue is Linux may require you to select a driver for your graphics card. Due to Linux still adapting to new hardware, you may need to play around with what works. You may even reinstall the operating system to retry something.

So far after the upgrade, my system is running smooth, but knowing Linux it's best to have a backup solution.

Things to also consider:

• Zorin OS has a "Software" app that has extensive list of apps that can be installed
  
• LibreOffice is preinstalled, but may look into installing OpenOffice
  
• Download the IDEs, Thunderbird, Steam to get going
  

For the most part software alternatives are already made to work on Linux, and it's nice to see Memory usage at 14% instead of 50% just to idle with 24GB of memory.

If you encounter an issue with freezing, make sure to first try - hold ALT+PrtScn while pressing individual keys R+E+I+S+U+B. The key presses are separate instructions that store, terminate and prepare the system for safe restart.

Often if that doesn't work, your option is likely only to press the reboot button to carry on doing what you need to do.

After getting through the hurdles, I'm glad to have a functioning alternative to Windows and not having to be a lab rat for it's new updates and never ending decisions how to screw you over without giving you any choice.

You won't know if you will be recorded by a ghost "Recall", if your files will be trained on by their AI, or if Copilot comes back to haunt your rented office suite, or files will be copied to OneDrive without your explicit permission, or make you sign in into MS account for any reason even just to boot up your PC first time. They've been looking how to disable local account for a while, which is a big no-no to IT community. It's a big violation of privacy to play with user's data as they please. Also they easily comply with regulations that ask for ID verification/face scan/biometrics planned in the future. It's just too far, and too much to be considered normal.

Old outlook is also to be phased out by 2029, while I'm sure Thunderbird is picking up on the black hole Microsoft is creating.

Another notable thing that comes to mind about Linux, is the speed. It may not be noticeable at times, but some sites will load in fraction of the time. While their "Software" app seems to lag a bit as they don't take advantage of redistributing installers using other people's computers like Windows.

All-in-all, linux can be fiddly and sometimes doesn't allow you to run software that you may need or used to in Windows. I'm hoping Linux will remain true to it's users with minimal bloat and everincreasing support by developers to allow users to have freedom of usage of their own hardware.

It turns out as a bit of "Windows hate", but most will agree that not knowing how your data is being misused and restricted is not a nice feeling.

With their K2 project, I think they will only debloat system, they're very unlikely to undo Copilot, Office subscriptions and Recall may get a new use. 

I'm sure Zorin OS will have it's struggles, especially as all Linux distros, sometimes to install or configure, you may use the terminal to dowload/install a package. But otherwise, it's a capable system worth giving a good shot.]]>

2. If on older hardware, sometimes Windows was working with IDE storage configuration, make sure to set BIOS storage to AHCI just so that you're running storage at it's full potential
   
3. Reset overclocking to stock clock speed - Linux is less stable with overclocking and may freeze due to voltage spikes or bad voltage config
   

All things considered, one only other issue is Linux may require you to select a driver for your graphics card. Due to Linux still adapting to new hardware, you may need to play around with what works. You may even reinstall the operating system to retry something.

So far after the upgrade, my system is running smooth, but knowing Linux it's best to have a backup solution.

Things to also consider:

• Zorin OS has a "Software" app that has extensive list of apps that can be installed
  
• LibreOffice is preinstalled, but may look into installing OpenOffice
  
• Download the IDEs, Thunderbird, Steam to get going
  

For the most part software alternatives are already made to work on Linux, and it's nice to see Memory usage at 14% instead of 50% just to idle with 24GB of memory.

If you encounter an issue with freezing, make sure to first try - hold ALT+PrtScn while pressing individual keys R+E+I+S+U+B. The key presses are separate instructions that store, terminate and prepare the system for safe restart.

Often if that doesn't work, your option is likely only to press the reboot button to carry on doing what you need to do.

After getting through the hurdles, I'm glad to have a functioning alternative to Windows and not having to be a lab rat for it's new updates and never ending decisions how to screw you over without giving you any choice.

You won't know if you will be recorded by a ghost "Recall", if your files will be trained on by their AI, or if Copilot comes back to haunt your rented office suite, or files will be copied to OneDrive without your explicit permission, or make you sign in into MS account for any reason even just to boot up your PC first time. They've been looking how to disable local account for a while, which is a big no-no to IT community. It's a big violation of privacy to play with user's data as they please. Also they easily comply with regulations that ask for ID verification/face scan/biometrics planned in the future. It's just too far, and too much to be considered normal.

Old outlook is also to be phased out by 2029, while I'm sure Thunderbird is picking up on the black hole Microsoft is creating.

Another notable thing that comes to mind about Linux, is the speed. It may not be noticeable at times, but some sites will load in fraction of the time. While their "Software" app seems to lag a bit as they don't take advantage of redistributing installers using other people's computers like Windows.

All-in-all, linux can be fiddly and sometimes doesn't allow you to run software that you may need or used to in Windows. I'm hoping Linux will remain true to it's users with minimal bloat and everincreasing support by developers to allow users to have freedom of usage of their own hardware.

It turns out as a bit of "Windows hate", but most will agree that not knowing how your data is being misused and restricted is not a nice feeling.

With their K2 project, I think they will only debloat system, they're very unlikely to undo Copilot, Office subscriptions and Recall may get a new use. 

I'm sure Zorin OS will have it's struggles, especially as all Linux distros, sometimes to install or configure, you may use the terminal to dowload/install a package. Also the type of furniture makes a difference. Glass top tables are nice. At times size needs to be considered to be merciful on shins of your guests.

Most times it feels like they're working backwards - data required, how to get it on the system, get users to use it.

Linked in was so good at it, that it seems to be the only reason Microsoft bought them. Now you're linked to people that you talk to digitally even before you add them anywhere.

Meta is in the same pond. They have every cellphone number, and cover by making some business and AI subscriptions.

So a lot of services resort to saying "we may share your data with third party providers", and that pretty much is a wildcard to do whatever they like and when they get caught, they get a parking ticket in fines to pay.

All the concerns above and ongoing squeeze of privacy, alternatives often begin to look more enticing to lift the concerns and move on.
Back to MS Access compatibility issue, looks like instead of waiting for Linux support, it's time to migrate to another application that can do the same job.

If you begin to have trouble doing something, or some issued are not easy to resolve even with community, then just look up the distro community that solves your issues better - that's why there're so many distros, everyone needs different branches of functionality more in depth.

The distro is more of a fashion statement in the PC world rather than major functionality difference, as you can often install what you need. So yeah, after using mostly windows, it's not something that wants to provide users with personal choices, the biggest dealbreaker is disregard for privacy that tips users over into Linux. What holds Linux distros is different universe that requires new adaptation by the users or even abandonment of existing software and learning alternatives.

Microsoft seems to have announced it's K2 project that debloats itself, but at this stage some things are "standard" that you still won't have control over. Definitely excessive telemetry, account linking and user device tracking are there to stay, features of Win 11 with performance of Linux is what they will primarily go for - this version is better for the users and fast, so users won't mind few things staying. So will be worth trying, but it's to keep users, not to exclude what users don't like. All those additions are still part of their explanation to major investors as positive progress and growth.

They missed out on a massive opportunity to optimize then create good software, e.g. take on Adobe to make alternative software for users, because rotating a PDF shouldn't cost you $20. Mac understood the assignment. Windows relied on purchase of new OS by PC manufacturers and datacentres. We saw attempts with some software, but they went after media e.g. half functioning video player, which has the best functioning free alternative - VLC. It's apparent that their software is supposed to work with OneDrive and cloud storage type of deal.

"We made it better for you even though you didn't ask for it" model doesn't work.

All in all, the space for user choice is splitting and as a user worth considering choices between Win/Linux/iOS for everyday user.
